Overview
This article outlines the hardware and software requirements for components of your Code42 cloud environment.
Code42 console requirements
- Minimum resolution: 1024x768
-
Web browser:
- Chrome (most recent)
- Firefox (most recent)
- Microsoft Edge (most recent built on Chromium, on Windows)
- Safari (most recent, on Mac and Linux)
The Code42 console does not support mobile web browsers.
Agent requirements
Insider risk agent
User device system requirements
The system specifications listed below are the minimum requirements needed to successfully install the insider risk agent. Devices on unsupported operating systems may be unable to upgrade to the most recent insider risk agent version.
- Support for ARM-based processors:
- The insider risk agent is supported on Macs with Apple silicon chips (for example, M1, M2, M3).
- Insider risk agent version 1.13.0 and later is supported on Windows devices with ARM-based processors.
- Other devices with ARM-based processors, including most phones and tablets, are not supported.
- The insider risk agent requires an Internet connection to send file event details to the Code42 cloud.
Following are the minimum requirements for devices running the insider risk agent.
OS | Hardware | Software | |
---|---|---|---|
Windows |
|
Supported Windows operating systems Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable version 14.38.33130.0 or newer.1 |
|
Mac |
|
||
Linux |
|
Supported Linux operating systems*
*The insider risk agent supports extended update support (EUS) versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and long-term support (LTS) versions of Ubuntu. |
1 If the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable dependency is missing, the agent installer automatically attempts to download the latest version. If a firewall or other network issue prevents the download, you must manually install the redistributable before installing the insider risk agent.
Firewall settings and insider risk agent ports
See IP addresses and ports used by the Code42 platform for firewall settings and ports used by the insider risk agent.
Backup agent
User device system requirements
The system specifications listed below are the minimum requirements needed to successfully install the Code42 agent. Devices on unsupported operating systems may be unable to upgrade to the most recent Code42 agent version.
- These system requirements are the minimum requirements to install the Code42 agent. Use more powerful hardware for the best performance.
- Support for ARM-based processors:
- The backup agent is supported on Macs with Apple silicon chips (for example, M1, M2, M3).
- Backup agent version 12.3.0 and later is supported on Windows devices with ARM-based processors.
- Other devices with ARM-based processors, including most phones and tablets, are not supported.
- If your backup is unusually large (more than 1 TB or 1 million files), you must configure the Code42 agent to use more RAM than the minimum requirement.
- The Code42 agent requires an Internet connection for almost all activity, including signing in, backing up, restoring, and changing most settings.
- The Code42 agent requires a graphical user interface (GUI) for use on all operating systems. The app's desktop UI typically requires a screen area at least 960 pixels wide by 780 pixels high. Some systems may be able to display it as small as 900 pixels by 680 pixels.
Following are the minimum requirements for devices running the Code42 agent. However, depending on usage, the Code42 agent may need more than the listed minimums to operate effectively.
