  • Performance and stability improvements.

  • Introduced support for macOS Sequoia.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where some files excluded from backup did not clearly indicate they were excluded when attempting to restore files from the agent.
  • Fixed an issue for Mac devices where upgrading or re-installing the agent could fail in specific circumstances.

Backup agent version 12.3.0

User devices begin automatically upgrading March 5, 2024, unless your administrator configured a client update delay.

  • Security updates for several third-party libraries.
  • Added support for Windows devices with ARM-based processors.

Backup agent version 12.2.0

User devices begin automatically upgrading November 8, 2023, unless your administrator configured a client update delay.

Updates

  • Updates to the uninstall process for Macs:
    • Using the Uninstall.app file is no longer an option for uninstalling the backup agent. Uninstalls must now use an uninstall script or Terminal command. (This is consistent with the uninstall requirements for the legacy agent introduced in September 2022 with version 11.0.)
    • The Mac uninstall script now exists at: /Library/Application Support/CrashPlan/uninstall.sh. Previously, it existed within the Uninstall app bundle, which is no longer included with the agent. If you use scripts or MDM commands to uninstall the backup agent on Macs, you may need to update them for backup agent version 12.2.
  • Updated the bundled Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version to Java 17.
  • Other performance and stability improvements.
  • Security updates.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Linux devices could restart the initial backup after an agent upgrade.

Features

Agent modernization

Agent modernization separates the functions of the Code42 app into two different agents:

  • Backup agent version 12.0 (and later) performs backup and restore functions.
  • The insider risk agent, which must be installed alongside the backup agent, performs insider risk and security monitoring functions.

See Getting started with Incydr agent modernization for more details.

Enhancements and updates

  • A single deployment properties file can now be used for Windows, macOS, and Linux devices. Previously, a separate file was required for each operating system.
  • Added a new path.analyze Code42 command to help troubleshoot backup path selection and exclusions.
  • Updated third-party library Apache Commons Text to version 1.10.0 to mitigate CVE-2022-42889.
  • Performance and stability improvements.
  • Security updates.

Bug fixes

Fixed issues where:

  • On Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04, the Code42 service did not automatically restart if the device was restarted.
  • For devices configured to use a proxy URL, restarting the device during the Code42 app installation could prevent the device from reconnecting via the proxy.
  • Full disk access status for macOS devices was reported incorrectly in some cases.
  • The Rosetta translation process was unexpectedly required under some circumstances on macOS devices with the M1 processor.
