Version 4.1.3 of the Code42 public cloud introduces changes intended to streamline the administration console interface and help you better manage CrashPlan PRO and CrashPlan PROe.

Updated Components

With the release of version 4.1.3, the following components have been updated:

  • Administration console for CrashPlan for Small Business
  • Administration console for CrashPlan PROe, in environments where the administration console is hosted in the Code42 public cloud
  • Code42 platform
  • Code42 API

With the public cloud release of version 4.1.3, there are no updates to the CrashPlan app. The current version of the CrashPlan app is version 3.6.3.

Unified Platform

All Code42 products, including CrashPlan for Small Business and CrashPlan PROe, are built on a unified platform. The logo in the administration console now reflects this.

The Dashboard is reorganized so administrators can better identify usage patterns, monitor storage consumption on the destination, and view the amount of data your devices have restored.

  • The Dashboard's graphs are now grouped into two sets:
    • Usage graphs are now located at the top of the Dashboard. The information illustrates how your users interact with CrashPlan, and also allows you to quickly identify users with large archives.
      • The Activity label was changed to Open Archives to more accurately reflect what is being measured.
    • Destinations shows the total size of your encrypted, compressed, and de-duplicated archives stored by Code42.
  • The Dashboard can now display up to three graphs in the first row, when viewing the administration console in a wide browser window. This makes it easier to see the Dashboard on smaller screens that have limited vertical screen resolution.
  • The maps widget has been removed from the main Dashboard to better focus the Dashboard on overall usage and backup health. Maps still appear for each individual user under User Details.

User And Device Overview

The columns on the User Overview and Device Overview have been updated to provide clarity and highlight backup activity.

User And Device Column Headings

The following changes were made:

  • Devices column is now Backup (User Overview only)
  • Storage column is now Used Storage (User Overview only)
  • Progress column is now Backup Progress
  • Last Activity column is now Last Backup Activity

The total size of the files selected for backup moved from the User and Device overviews to the Device Details.

Device Settings Changed To Device Backup Settings

Device settings have been renamed to Device Backup settings to better distinguish backup-specific device settings.

Device Backup Menu

  • CrashPlan for Small Business: In the administration console's navigation menu, Settings > Device is now Settings > Device Backup
  • CrashPlan PROe: From an organization's action menu, Device Defaults is now Device Backup Defaults

User And Device Details

The following updates have been made:

  • An online indicator has been added to the user details beside each active device
  • The amount selected for backup moved from the storage graph to the location highlighted below

Fixes & Enhancements

  • References to Sessions throughout the administration console are now titled Connections to more accurately reflect what is being measured
  • Performance and stability improvements
  • Updated translations for the administration console
  • Corrected an issue occurring in deployments with an on-premises master server plus public cloud storage where moving all users from one organization to a different organization may trigger a restart of backup

API Updates

  • API Documentation Viewer now displays example output
  • ArchiveResource no longer displays totalCount with the default output. To include totalCount, add query parameter:
  • Org resource no longer errors when sorting by orgId parameter
  • Updated content in the API Documentation Viewer for the following resources:
    • OrgDeactivation
    • ComputerDeauthorization
    • BackupTreeNode

Known Issue

There is a known issue affecting hybrid environments and public cloud environments with keys on-premises. For environments in either of these configurations, we recommend upgrading all private Code42 servers running version 4.1.3, 4.1.4, or 4.1.5 to version
