Overview

Code42 agent version 8.2.0 changes some instances of "CrashPlan" to "Code42" in the name of the application, service, and related file paths. This article details the complete list of changes and highlights some affected areas that may require your IT or Security teams to make corresponding updates to your internal processes.

Affects

If your Code42 environment uses any of the following, update your configurations to use the new names and directories listed below to ensure compatibility with Code42 agent version 8.2.0 and later:

  • Firewall rules, if based on the CrashPlanService name. (Firewall rules based on IP addresses are not affected.)
  • Application monitoring with device management tools like SCCM or Jamf to ensure the Code42 process is always running.
  • Code42 exceptions for antivirus, malware, or other security monitoring tools.
  • Automated or scripted deployment and installation processes that include the filename of the  .msi, .dmg, or .tgz Code42 installer.

Changes

If you have any scripts, monitoring, exceptions, or other processes that specifically reference any item in the Code42 agent version 8.0.0 column, you must update those references to use the new value in the Code42 agent version 8.2.0 column.

Many items – including the macOS bundle ID and file locations for logs, app data, and caches – remain the same. Only the items listed below changed in Code42 agent version 8.2.0.
