When you install the CrashPlan app on a new computer (or after reinstalling the operating system on your existing computer), CrashPlan creates a new computer ID under your account and gives you the option to adopt your previous settings. If this option disappears, you can bring it back by manually assigning a new computer ID following the steps below.
Step 1: Assign a new computer id
- Open the CrashPlan app.
- Double-click the CrashPlan logo in the upper-right corner.
The CrashPlan command-line area opens.
- Press Enter and close the window.
This command signs you out of the CrashPlan app.
Step 2: Adopt previous computer
When prompted, sign back in by selecting Existing account and entering your email address and password. The adoption message appears at the top of the Backup tab:
