Permissions in Windows
A permissions issue in the Windows operating system could cause this issue. To determine whether or not there is a permissions issue:
- From the Backup tab, click the Change button under Files to view your file selection
- Verify that CrashPlan can see the contents of your folders by expanding them. If there is a permissions issue, the folder appears empty and the triangle to expand the folder disappears:
The CrashPlan app requires the SYSTEM user permissions in Windows to back up your files. If your folder appears empty, add the SYSTEM user permissions to the folder.
CrashPlan stores a cache of information about your backup. If this cache is corrupted, the CrashPlan app might incorrectly report your file selection size as 0 MB. Clear the cache to correct this issue.
