Restore Microsoft Outlook data using CrashPlan for Small Business


Microsoft Outlook saves your email messages, calendar, tasks, and other items in either an Outlook for Windows Data File (.pst) or an Outlook for Mac Data File (.olm). This article guides you through the process of recovering your Outlook data by restoring your Outlook Data File with the Code42 app.

Where do I find my Outlook data file?

The default location of your Outlook Data File depends on your operating system and Outlook version.

1This path is excluded from backup for CrashPlan for Small Business. Instead, you should export your Outlook data and back up the .olm file 

Step 1: Restore your Outlook data file

To restore your Outlook Data File:

Close Outlook, then open the Code42 app to see a list of backed-up files:

  1. Click Restore Files.
  2. (Applies only if you have multiple devices) From the menu, select the device that originally backed up the files you want to restore.
  1. Locate and select your Outlook Data file.
  2. Click Restore Files
    The Restore Files Options window appears.
  3. Next to Save selected files to, choose Original Location.
  4. Select Go.
    Your download begins immediately. The Download Activity displays the status of your restored files.

Step 2: Import your Outlook data file

After you restore your Outlook Data File, tell Outlook where to find the file.
