Overview
Code42 supports managing network bandwidth for user devices in a variety of ways. This article details the available options with links to additional resources.
Bandwidth management methods and resources
Configure global network settings
- Configure DSCP: Configure quality-of-service (QoS) policies with differentiated services code point (DSCP) for LAN (local area networks) in your Code42 environment. Using DSCP can help prioritize backup traffic from Code42 apps to your authority server without saturating your network.
- Configure network overrides: Define device backup rates for LAN and WAN.
- Device Backup Network reference: Explains the settings in the Settings > Device Backup > Network screen in the Code42 console, which includes:
- Backup-data transfer rates for:
- LAN and WAN connections
- When the user is present and away
- Peak and off-peak business hours
- Proxy settings
- Network interface exclusions
- Wireless network exclusions
- TCP/IP buffer size
- Backup-data transfer rates for:
Configure network settings by device location
- Configure device networks: Define device backup rates for any combination of device location, day, and time.
- Configure device networks with the Code42 API: Use the Code42 API to define device backup rates for any combination of device location, backup destination, day, and time. Using the API can be helpful if you have a large number of locations to create and want to script the configuration, or if you have multiple backup destinations and need to configure devices at a single location to use unique sending rates for each destination.
- Device Networks reference: Explains the settings in the Settings > Device Networks screen in the Code42 console, used to define device backup rates for any combination of device location, day, and time.
Port configuration troubleshooting
- See Reconfigure incorrect port settings with network redirection to use the internal firewall of a Code42 server to restore Code42 app device connectivity if the primary or secondary network port number was entered incorrectly.
- See Test your network connection to test port connectivity.
