Overview

If you have added a provisioning provider to the Code42 console, user attributes from your identity provider are provisioned to Code42 and then displayed for employees in risk detection lists and the user profile. Under certain circumstances, user attributes that have been updated in your identity provider and provisioned to Code42 may not appear.

User attributes (like the Department/Title field) will not be populated correctly if you:

  • Enabled provisioning after you added employees to a risk detection list
  • Updated user attributes in your identity provider after employees were added to a risk detection list

To resolve this issue, follow the steps below.

Affects

Users of the risk detection lists that have added user provisioning such as SCIM or Code42 User directory sync to the Code42 console.

Considerations

Before you begin

Check the Code42 Sync Log to verify that the user attributes are properly provisioned from the identity provider.

Recommended solution

To get updated attributes for a user, use the api/v2/user/refresh/ resource in the detection list management APIs. The following example demonstrates how to get updated user attributes for a single user with the api/v2/user/refresh  API.

In the following example:

  • Replace <RequestURL> with the request URL of your Code42 cloud instance, for example,
    https://ecm-default.prod.ffs.us2.code42.com/svc/api/v2/user
  • Replace <AuthToken> with the authentication token.
  • Replace <SampleTenant> with the tenant ID
  • Replace <SampleUserIdentifier> with the user ID.
Copied!
curl -X POST <RequestURL>/refresh \
-H 'content-type: application/json' \
-H "authorization: v3_user_token <AuthToken>" \
-d '{ "tenantId": "<SampleTenant>", "userId": "<SampleUserIdentifer>" }'
