Overview

Code42 for Enterprise can be configured to support compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Code42 for Enterprise can support compliance with the HIPAA as long as you do so according to proper policies and procedures. This article outlines your options for using Code42 for Enterprise to support HIPAA compliance.

How to support HIPAA

First, you must obtain a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with Code42. After you obtain a BBA with Code42, the only requirement is to leave encryption enabled (see the Device Backup advanced settings). Encryption is enabled by default.

Additional options for supporting HIPAA

Another option is to activate Compliance Settings in your administration console. Activating compliance settings options go beyond what Code42 requires in our BAA. Use these options if your Code42 environment requires more control over backup data.
