Unable to push changed device settings

Overview

This article describes a rare known issue that may result in being unable to push a new or changed device setting to multiple devices.

Affects

CrashPlan PROe environments currently using version 4.1.4. 4.1.5, or 4.1.5.1 that have previously used version 3.8.2010 or earlier.

Specifically, this issue affects only environments that meet all these criteria:

  • At least one device was deactivated while using CrashPlan PROe version 3.8.2010 or earlier.
  • A new destination was created after the device was deactivated.
  • The new destination was offered to an organization that contains a device that was deactivated in version 3.8.2010 or earlier, and that destination had auto-start enabled.
  • The current version of your Code42 environment is 4.1.4, 4.1.5, or 4.1.5.1.

Diagnosing

If you meet all the criteria listed above, you may see an error message in the administration console when pushing a changed device backup setting to multiple devices or performing any other action that causes new settings to be pushed to devices, such as turning on automatic device upgrades. The error message reads:

System error: if problem persists contact support@code42.com

Recommended solution

Upgrade to version 4.1.6 of the Code42 platform.
