Enterprise Server Does Not Start After Installation On New Mac OS X Lion System

Applies to:
  • CrashPlan PROe
After installing CrashPlan PROe on a new, non-upgraded Mac OS X Lion system, the enterprise server background service that performs all backup and server operations does not start. No backup operations occur. The administration console does not load. PROServer Monitor hangs on "Waiting for PRO Server to start..."

Affects

PROe Servers installed directly onto new (non-upgraded) Mac OS X Lion installations

Recommended solution

  1. Verify that Java runtime has been installed.
  2. Stop the PROe Server service.
  3. Delete this file:
/Library/CrashPlan/.proserver_identity

You may need to do this from Terminal and use sudo.

  1. Start the PROe Server service.
