Email Warnings and Critical Alerts Not Sent With a Specific Configuration

Users may not receive emailed warning alerts in response to a device not being backed up for a particular combination of Email alert settings for the CrashPlan app. This article explains the conditions, and how to solve the issue.

Root cause

The missing backup alert issue happens when users have the critical alert check box checked, but not the warning alert check box.

Recommended solution

Select the warning alert check box in the CrashPlan app settings, under Settings > General > Backup Status and Alerts > Email.
