Overview
This reference guide describes global default settings (Settings > Device) for all your devices.
General
Specify general client settings in the General Settings section.

a | User is away when not active for Windows and Mac only | Number of minutes of inactivity after which the user is considered “away” |
b | When user is away, use up to | Percent of CPU to use when user is “away” Note: In Linux, the CrashPlan app always uses the "away" setting |
c | When user is present, use up to Windows and Mac only | Percent of CPU to use when user is not “away” |
d | Stop when battery reaches Windows and Mac only | Pause backup when remaining battery power is below this level |
e | Lock | Locks this setting to prevent users from changing it in their personal settings. |
f | Push | Indicates whether or not a change in this setting applies to existing users in addition to new users |
Alerts
Send Warning and Critical alerts based on number of days since last backup.

a | Not backed up for (Warning) | The number of days since last backup after which the user will receive a Warning message. This is the last of the two messages the CrashPlan app sends. |
b | Not backed up for (Critical) | The number of days since last backup after which the user will receive a Critical message. This is the first of two messages CrashPlan app sends. |
c | Lock | Locks this setting to prevent users from changing it in their personal settings. |
d | Push | Indicates whether or not a change in this setting applies to existing users in addition to new users. |
Inbound backup
The Inbound Backup settings control whether or not backups from other computers are accepted, when they can be accepted, and how often archive maintenance takes place. The Accept Inbound Backups setting is disabled by default. The scheduling controls appear only when you enable the Between specified times option.

e | Perform shallow maintenance every | Specifies how often shallow archive maintenance runs for source archives stored on this computer. |

Hidden filenames
The lists of Hidden Filenames identify files that you want hidden from view in the CrashPlan app File Selection and Restore windows. Users can view hidden files by clicking the Show Hidden Files check box. You can add files to the Hidden Filenames list using filename patterns or using Regular Expressions. You can also remove items from list.

Global exclusions
The Global Exclusions section identifies files that you want excluded from the backup.

Cloud exclusions
The Cloud Exclusions section identifies files that you want excluded from backups to the cloud. Files can still be backed up to other destinations.
