CrashPlan For Business Versions 3.6.4 And 3.6.5

Version 3.6.4 is a maintenance release that introduces support for OS X Yosemite v10.10 and a small number of other enhancements and fixes. These fixes and enhancements, as well as those included in the 3.6.4 patch releases, are also included in version 3.6.5. Recommended Upgrade To Version 3.6.5 Version 3.6.5 contains critical security and stability updates and replaces all previous 3.6.4.x versions. We recommend upgrading all Code42 environments running version 3.6.4.3 or earlier to version 3.6.5.

Fixes And Enhancements​

CrashPlan App

  • OS X Yosemite v10.10 compatibility
  • Improved warning when deselecting files from backup selection
  • Security updates
  • Performance and stability improvements
  • Restore and backup logging now occurs even while CrashPlan app is paused
  • Windows: The system tray application now launches upon system startup when Launch system tray on startup is enabled
  • OS X: Corrected a case sensitivity issue for systems formatted with the Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Case-Sensitive) file system (HFSX)
  • iOS: 
    • Performance and stability improvements
    • CrashPlan mobile app no longer crashes when viewed in portrait mode
    • "About" information now displays properly on iOS 8 devices
    • Corrected a display issue making some text on the Home screen unreadable
  • Linux:
    • Installer now installs CrashPlan app in a subdirectory named crashplan​
    • Installer now uses the correct link when downloading the Java Runtime Environment (JRE)

  • Performance and stability improvements
  • New top-level domains are now recognized
  • In new environments, Time Machine backup files are now excluded from CrashPlan backups by default

Recommended Upgrade
We recommend upgrading all Code42 environments running version 3.6.5 or earlier to version 3.6.5.1 for critical security updates.
  • Version 3.6.5.1 corrects a security vulnerability that could allow user privilege elevation.

Recommended Upgrade
We recommend upgrading all Code42 environments running version 3.6.4.3 or earlier to version 3.6.5.

  • Improvements to the upgrade process in the OS X CrashPlan app when applying upgrades that span multiple versions.

Maintenance Update 3.6.4.3

Version 3.6.4.3 contains important security and stability updates for CrashPlan PROe. These improvements affect all Code42 environments.

Fixes

  • Performance and stability improvements.
  • Fixed issue where, in rare circumstances, duplicate usernames could be created in an organization.
  • Fixed rare issue in large environments where information could be missing from the beginning of the app.log file.

Known Issue

  • In the administration console, devices that are 100% backed up may incorrectly display a red progress bar instead of a green progress bar. If the backup percentage is listed as 100%, and the device’s Last Backup Activity and Completed time is less than the threshold for a critical alert, then the device’s backup is complete and no action is necessary.

Enterprise Server Memory Considerations
We recommend that enterprise servers have 4 GB of memory before upgrading to 3.6.4.3.

Security Update 3.6.4.1

Version 3.6.4.1 contains an important security update that disables the SSL 3.0 protocol in order to prevent the POODLE attack.

Announcing Mac OS X Version 10.5 Leopard Retirement

With the release of version 3.6.4, Code42 is announcing retirement of support for Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard. That means that, going forward, Code42 will no longer develop for, test, or maintain our products on Mac OS X Leopard. New versions of our products released after November 5, 2014 will not support Mac OS X Leopard. Additionally, the End of Support date for Mac OS X Leopard is scheduled for May 31, 2015.
