We think you'll find that CrashPlan for Home offers numerous features that set it apart from other online backup services.
Triple Destination Protection
We believe backing up to multiple destinations is the best way to secure your files against catastrophe – that's why the only destination you ever need a subscription to use is CrashPlan Central. Local backups and backups to friends and family are always completely free of charge.
CrashPlan does not limit the size of your backup and we won't throttle your upload speeds. Furthermore, if you have a subscription to CrashPlan Central, we don't care if you're backing up 5 GB or 5 TB, and we don't place limits on individual file sizes. Plus, we’ll never charge you extra to restore your files.
Security to Meet Your Needs
Code42, makers of CrashPlan, regards data security as the most important component of our backup services. That's why CrashPlan encrypts your backup files before any data is sent to your backup destinations, using 448-bit encryption if you have a subscription, or 128-bit encryption without a subscription. Once your files are encrypted, they are transmitted to your backup destinations over a communication channel secured by 128-bit AES encryption.
Your Files, Mobilized
With a subscription to CrashPlan for Home, you can access any file you back up to CrashPlan Central from our free mobile app. Enjoy ready access to all your computer files from virtually anywhere, at any time.
If you back up to CrashPlan Central, you can restore files from any computer with your Internet browser. This is a convenient way to access your files in pinch!
Silent And Continuous
Backing up your files shouldn't get in the way of what you're doing. That's why CrashPlan is designed to use minimal CPU power. Without any additional configuration, most people won't even notice CrashPlan is running.
Generous Retention And Versioning
CrashPlan's default setting is to never remove deleted files from your backup set. Additionally, file versions can be backed up continuously (CrashPlan for Home with a subscription), or once daily (CrashPlan for Home without a subscription). If a file becomes corrupt, or you want to return to an earlier version, you can restore from a date and time you specify.
CrashPlan for Home family plan subscriptions allow you to back up two or more computers under a single account. Family plans are perfect when several people in a household need to back up their computers. If a son or daughter goes away to school, his or her computer can still be protected under a family plan.
