Identifying Ports Used By The Code42 CrashPlan App

Applies to:
  • Code42 CrashPlan (previously CrashPlan PROe)

Overview

This article provides information about identifying ports used by the Code42 CrashPlan app. You may need port information when adding CrashPlan as an approved application in your antivirus or security software.

Affects

The recommended solution below requires version 5.2.x or later of the CrashPlan app.

Recommended solution

To display the ports used by the CrashPlan app:

  1. Open the CrashPlan app.
  2. Open Code42 CrashPlan Commands by entering the keyboard shortcut for your operating system:
    • Windows: Ctrl+shift+C
    • OS X: Option+Command+C
    • Linux: Ctrl+Shift+C
  3. Enter the following command: connection.info
  4. Press Enter.

CrashPlan responds with the internal IP address and port information. For example:

connection.info
Address=127.0.0.1
Port=4242
UI Port=4243
HTTP Port=4244

The HTTP port is used for communication of the CrashPlan service and the CrashPlan app. The port and UI port are reserved, but not used, in version 5.x and later of the CrashPlan app.
