When the CrashPlan app is upgraded from version 3.6.3 to a later version, the CrashPlan app may display the following Software Update prompt on computers running OS X:
To open "java," you need a Java SE 6 runtime.
Would you like to install one now?
You can simply dismiss this prompt by clicking Not Now. See the troubleshooting article below for additional details.
This issue affects only users with these specific software versions:
- OS X version 10.7.4 or later
- CrashPlan app version 3.6.3
The Java prompt only appears if the CrashPlan app is open when the upgrade begins.
When the Software Update prompt appears, you can safely dismiss the prompt by clicking Not Now.
Version 3.6.3 and later of the CrashPlan app includes a bundled version of Java, so installing from this prompt is unnecessary. However, if you select Install, there are no consequences because the Software Update will not replace the bundled Java.
We recommend planning your upgrade procedures to avoid this issue when upgrading your CrashPlan devices. Refer to our Upgrading resources for more information.
